Bing Maps Measure Distance

Measuring distances and areas when your map uses the mercator projection. You can access this enumeration with the microsoft.maps.spatialmath.distanceunits namespace. It is open source and you can learn the things you need there (or just use them, cause they already exists in.

Another option is to use arcgis api for silverlight which can also display bing maps. Map multiple locations, get transit/walking/driving directions, view live traffic conditions, plan trips, view satellite, aerial and street side imagery. But what if you are building some model (or calculator) and want to find out the distance, travel time, address points (latitude, longitude) and may be even distance matrix (given two sets of points, all distances between them)?

In my experience bing maps generally loads a little faster, but both tools load much faster than google earth. To add another point, click anywhere on the map. If you want to use the distance matrix api to measure distances on bing maps, you will need to register with the bing maps dev center. Recently, arcgis online services became available in the same “web mercator” projection used by google maps and bing maps.
